BREAKING NEWS: Contract talks between the International Longshoreman's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) broke down today when ILA President Harold Daggett suspended talks. This breakdown in negotiations increases the likelihood of a strike by ILA members that could cripple East Coast and Gulf ports in the U.S. when the ILA contract expires on September 30.
GCA wants its members to be aware of this unfortunate development so that they can take any precautionary measures they deem prudent pending the ultimate outcome. Details follow in a notice issued this afternoon by the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL), of which GCA is a member.
